The Swiss2Grid pilot project, scheduled to last for 3 years, was officially launched in Mendrisio on 20 September 2010, and will involve a number of multi-disciplinary partners coordinated by the SUPSI ISAAC Institute.

The project is financed by the Federal Energy Office (Ufficio Federale dell’Energia – UFE), by Swisselectric-Research (SER) and by other industrial partners.

The main objective is to demonstrate an innovative concept, Smart Grid, which hypothesises intelligent decentralised grid management,  based on individual junction regulation and, in order to reduce the level of complexity of the system, controlled by a light infrastructure.
